SCAD Film Festival 2023 - Primogeniture screening and attendance!

Hey everyone!! Thank you so much for stopping by. It’s been a full year since my last post for the SCAD film festival!

A lot has changed since last year, but that is for a different time. This year, my senior film Primogeniture has been featured, and is showing at the Savannah Film Festival. I am so proud of the team, and so excited to attend and see it again on the big screen!

To those who may be attending, come drop by Lucas Theatre! It’s October 26th at 9 AM!

SCAD Film Festival 10/28/2022 + Senior Year begins

I had the wonderful chance of starting this year with 2 projects, both being short films. The first one being a Hybrid 2D/3D Shortfilm titled “Submersed”, where I have joined as the Producer and Visual Development artist. I’ve had a wonderful time stepping up my creature design work, and getting back into being a producer. This time, for a much larger project. It has been a lot of work, but it has been a wonderful experience meeting people from other schools and the industry. I’ve learned a lot, and I hope that we produce something amazing.

The second film was Primogeniture, I have joined it for my senior capstone. It has also been a very long, hard, but enjoyable film. As we wrap up pre-production, I look forward into moving into production and help with painting layouts.

Lastly, before the quarter wraps up, I had the chance to attend a film festival event at SCAD where many amazing directors attended. While I didn’t get to take any photos with them, I gained a lot of valuable incite into their journey in the industry, where they take inspiration from, and their opinions on animation. They reassured everyone about how everyone’s journey to get into the industry was different, and gave more feedback about how projects go, how to collaborate, and to not worry. This was all incredibly important insight for all the projects I’m currently on.

End of Fall Quarter , November 2021

My very busy quarter has finally come to an end, and I am happy to have taken very helpful classes! Over this quarter I got to work on three main things: Student films (Baklava, Grotesque) , Unbroken, and The Lost Planet.

First the student films, I am so excited to have worked closely with the director and the rest of the crew on pitching a new story and completing the storyboards/animatic in 2 days. I have never worked so quickly on pitching a story or storyboards, but it proved to me that I can work very quickly with that. I am looking forward to what happens next with Grotesque over the winter break. Secondly, with Baklava, I had the chance to work on keyframe animation and backgrounds for this film. I learned a lot of new rendering styles, as well as worked the first time with ToonBoom Harmony. I hope I can continue on this project as well.

The second project I worked on was The Lost Planet. I worked on this last quarter, Spring 2021, the prop and environment side of it. This quarter, I got to work on the characters and creatures of the world. Over the break, I will continue to finish up the project so I have a complete project to show. What I have planned is the finishing up of the cast with their expression sheets, turn arounds, and action poses. Then, finishing up prop and environment design with a few more polished, painted props and environments to show off what I’ve learned.

Lastly, I got to work on Unbroken. I am so excited for the break! I can finally finish the first phase of the webtoon, pre-production. I will have the story finished and the illustrations for the light novel created, as well as all the turn arounds, action poses, and emotions for each character done. It’s a bit overwhelming as there’s just me and there’s about 40 characters in the first part of the webtoon, and I care for each and every one of them! Who knew making all the assets for a webtoon would be this much work? I also have to work on designing much of the interiors, such as the two cathedrals and castle. I may have to get help with the 3D as I learn 3D over the break.

Oh, one last thing. I am happy to announce I am joining the video game Pantry Panic as a concept artist!

Fall Mid Quarter Update , October 2021

Hi everyone,

It’s a bit past midterms now and I am super swamped with work. It seems you take one break day and you fall behind on everything! Although, I am proud of all the work that is coming out from this quarter’s work, from The Lost Planet to everything I’m producing on Grotesque. I hope you enjoy some of the work in progress work I’ve been working on!

Junior Year Starts - Sept 5/2021

Hello everyone,

I am starting my first on-campus (since the start of the pandemic) classes. I am so excited to see everyone physically again! I am also pleased to announce I am joining my first senior films, Baklava, Crossing Over, and Grotesque. I hope to be helpful in their films!

I am also excited to be doing my first character design classes. Right now, I am really enjoying backgrounds, environments, and prop design, but it’s always great to learn about characters and creature design too!

To anyone at SCAD, I hope to see you there and get to know you!
